General Information

CLASSES

Classes are once a week and 2 hours long. All of our courses are designed in such a manner that the projects build on each other, where you learn a new skill with each project. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available (open time slots are indicated on the enrolment form).

Classes run from 29 Jan 2024 – 29 Nov 2024. No classes on public holidays. If you’ve missed a class, it is your responsibility to arrange with the facilitator to attend any of the other available classes. If the facilitator is for any reason unable to attend the class, or if the class falls on a public holiday, arrangements will be made to re-schedule a catch-up class.

MATERIALS

Each learner is responsible for their own materials. All patterns used in the projects will be provided during class. Sewing patterns are available for purchase on order.

Your own sewing machine is preferable so that students can learn to work how their own sewing machine works, but students can use the sewing machines in class at an additional R120 p/m.

I, Lizelle de Carvalho studied at the University of Pretoria and one of my greatest passions in life is teaching. I give classes in sewing, crochet, handcrafts, and cooking. I’m married and live in Centurion, Gauteng. My motto in life is to at least try it, no matter how daunting, you might just be surprised…”Great things never came from comfort zones.” I love to see the excitement in my students when they grasp something for the first time and it fuels me to see how a student, young or old, master new skills. I strive to always present my classes in a fun and exciting way. I also have a successful catering business and developed my own flavoured ice tea that I sold at markets. I love designing my own sewing patterns and creating my own recipes, and I’m currently busy writing my own recipe book in my spare time.
